Exercise 4 - American Model

I believe it is true but we have to be more careful about it as much freedom to individual may lead to dangers act as well. It is good to have freedom of speech but in limits that won’t allow an individual to make their speeches harmful or abusive to others. UAE is a good example of an individual freedom and the government always support that and want each member of the society to have their own freedom in everything they desire. So yes it is a great idea to be a little bit obsessed with the individual freedom as I feel it’s a human Wright after all to choose what they want.

It can influence the choices in life for example destiny which is not entirely in our hand and sometimes the culture and the tradition that we live in it force us to be as they choose not as we want to choose. Like marriage most of it in our culture is arranged and you rarely find a couples who got married because they chose each other. Also it influence our way of thinking cause we will always keep thinking in our reputation and how everything we do or choose will affect it especially in all of our relationship, so if we have a good reputation and have strong relationship people will count on us more and be sure that our accountability is trusted.

The model: “You can't make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.” Michelle Obama
An individual must decide and be sure that he/she have to accept all the consequences of his decisions and he/she must not let fears hold him/her back and make him/her think of what might happen because no one know what the future hold for us.
If we take for example the Amish they think that it is stupid to leave your family and homeland to go look for a job abroad and live between strangers and it is not a good decision for any Amish member to make as he will never be allowed to be back but if that member did make that decision then he/she should not make that decision based on fear.
So based on the Rules it is important for the Amish to follow it completely and if they don’t they will be facing a whole community that will stand against them including their family as the relationship in that community is very critical. The Statuse of that decision must be clear did achieve your goal? Is it worth it what you did? And are you happy of the outcome?

Examples from your own experience / studies
From what I learned about culture of Amish their interaction with the outer world is almost zero and they believe that their Relationship should never go out of their group or communicate with the sin of the world and by that they will reach the salvation. They also choose the destiny of their women as they don’t allow them to wear anything short or colourful and they should cover their entire body so they won’t sin. If a member of the Amish decided to leave he/she is never to come back and will be with no support and family as well to return to once they leave they will automatically lose their accountability.

For an individual who have their own personality and high level of education won’t stand living in the Amish but for those who have lived their life as well in this culture will have a hard time adapting to a new lifestyle but they must learn how to make a decision that would change their life for good or bad.

My culture influence my choice in marriage, I am used to hear and attend wedding that are arranged and never heard about two person getting married after they fell in love. I believe that love can never exist before marriage or that what I was brought up with at least. So if I am going to get married my family will choose the wife for me depending on her and her family reputation, her religion and if she is an acceptable good looking person.
